A History of Violence overlooked by Oscars

I must admit I was disappointed to see that A History of Violence did not receive any Oscar nominations. I thought that Viggo Mortensen at least deserved a Best Actor nomination and possibly even Ed Harris as Best Supporting Actor. The film worked on so many levels and did an amazing job of portraying the violent culture that lurks beneath the seemingly peaceful existence of many small town communities in the American midwest. Brokeback Mountain and Good Night, Good Luck have taken all the critical plaudits with this gem seemingly overlooked by many. Mortensen was superb as Tom Stall and the movie showed that he has moved on from Lord of the Rings, unlike many of his co-actors.
